MEET TASHINA
I am Tashina Emery, Misanaquadikwe, Clearing of the Sky Cloud Woman. I am the Area 4 Representative. I live on my ancestral lands in Michigan, where I am a mother, writer, jeweler, legal assistant, and law student. I am an enrolled member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, and my movement on and off the reservation has shaped my commitment to lifelong learning, legacy, and community care. My life bundle carries two medicines: a creative spirit expressed through my writing, teaching, and jewelry-making, and a deep political and justice-centered commitment grounded in my work in law. I attend Mitchell Hamline School of Law as a 2L, serve as a legal assistant for my Tribe, and previously served as an Associate Judge in the Tribal Judicial Branch. Above all, my life bundle is made whole through motherhood, worrying and caring for my little brown babies, and all future brown babies.
