Rellani Ogumoro

Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University

Tirow Waami & Hafa Adai.

My name is Rellani Bennett Ogumoro. I am Refaluwasch from the island of Saipan. Saipan, is part of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) – a U.S. territory in the western Pacific. I am a student at Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law.

Before law school, I had the opportunity and privilege to serve Indian Country during the Obama Administration. I worked in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI). At DOI, I assisted leadership with the White House Council on Native American Affairs. I also worked for the Special Assistant to the President for Native American Affairs in the Domestic Policy Council at The White House.

I plan to use my future law degree to address issues indigenous populations face. I hope to use the law to protect our traditions and resources while also improving the modern landscape of our social, political and economic status.
