MEET BRENNA
Brenna Hanley is a former Senior Tribal Prosecutor with the Navajo Nation. Her clans are Kinyaa'aanii (Towering House), Tó'ahéédlinii (Water Flows Together), Ashííh (Salt People), and Tachiinii (Red Running into the Water People). She is a member of the Navajo Nation Bar Association and is licensed to practice before the Navajo Nation Tribal Courts. Brenna brings over 15 years of experience in administration and management, including work with the United States Air Force, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, and the Navajo Nation Office of the Prosecutor. Brenna holds a B.A. in Social and Criminal Justice from Ashford University and an M.A. in Psychology (Criminology and Justice Studies) from the University of the Rockies. She is currently a J.D. Candidate (Class of 2027) at the University of New Mexico School of Law. A distinguished graduate of the National Tribal Trial College (2017), Brenna represents victims in civil and criminal matters before Tribal Courts and serves as an instructor at the Navajo Nation Police Academy. She also works with the Southwest Center for Law & Policy in legal education. At UNM School of Law, Brenna is a member of the Native American Law Student Association, Veteran Law Society, and is Editor-in-Chief of the Tribal Law Journal. Brenna also serves as Vice President of National Native American Law Student Association.
